Recipe: Caprese Salad - Two Different Ways - Tower vs Chop

It’s tomato season! My garden is producing great heirloom tomatoes right now so that means Caprese salad time, an Italian staple. It doesn’t matter the way in which you prepare these easy ingredients as long as they end up together in my opinion. The key is fresh and quality ingredients as is always the cornerstone of any successful dish. You’ll see here how easy the Caprese can be done in any matter to meet the feel you want to pair with the rest of your meal. Super easy and visually appealing.

Caprese Tower
serves 4
  • 3-4 Heirloom tomatoes (I prefer color combinations for presentation purposes)
  • 1 lb Mozzarella (large fresh version)
  • bunch of Basil
  • pinch of Salt
  • drizzle of aged Balsamic vinegar
  • drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

How To:

Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into slices approximately 1/2" thick

Stack tomato (sprinkle with salt), mozzarella, and basil. Repeat.

Drizzle the vinegar and olive oil over the top and serve.

Caprese Chop Salad Version
serves 4
  • 3-4 Heirloom tomatoes (I prefer color combinations for presentation purposes)
  • 1 lb Mozzarella (large fresh version)
  • bunch of Basil
  • pinch of Salt
  • drizzle of aged Balsamic vinegar

How To:

Chop tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and place in serving bowl.

Sprinkle with salt and drizzle with vinegar and olive oil.
