Recipe: Seth's Margarita

Happy Friday! It's not as nice as it was supposed to be as predicted earlier in the week by the talking heads on the news but it's still summer. Summer = Margaritas

Ever wonder what is in ‘margarita mix’? Yeah, me too. Good thing you don’t need it to make the perfect margarita. Less is literally more when making these guys. I want a refreshing drink with a great tequila bite and without the headache (literal) that the premixed versions serve up, so this is how to do it.

Seth’s Margarita

2 oz blanco 100% blue agave tequila
2 oz lime juice, fresh squeezed
1 oz grand marnier
2 tsp superfine sugar

Take a cocktail shaker, add ice, add sugar, add juice and liquor, and shake (5 secs min). Pour over ice in a rocks glass and enjoy.  A perfect margarita that gets the job done every time.

Quality of ingredients is the key here. If it doesn’t say 100% azul agave then it probably isn’t all tequila and might have coloring in it. Lime juice out of a bottle isn’t the same as out of the lime. Try some side by side and you’ll know what I’m talking about. And yes, buy the superfine sugar. Keep it handy for all kinds of drinks as it dissolves properly into the drinks instead of being left behind in the bottom of the shaker.
